Siphoning
The Commas reading group recently read a book that had a tricky word - siphon. We read about a girl who had to siphon the water out of her fish tank so that she could clean it. We thought we would try to learn how to siphon too. First we tried a skinny tube but we couldn't get it to work, even when Sam re read the instructions to us. The next day we tried a fatter tube but we still couldn't get it to work. Eventually we used straws to try and work out how the water was travelling. We have learnt that the children in the Senior School who look after the salmon in the Fish in Schools programme need to siphon their water, so we are going to try and watch them do it one day. We think we still showed perseverance!
