Science Alive Visit

Today Science Alive visited us as part of our prize for winning The Reading Crusade in Term 1 this year.  They brought along lots of exhibits with a sporting theme for us to try.  We had a great time at the mini golf, catching the rugby balls that went flying out of a special machine, trying our balance and reaction times.  Some of us even tried controlling a ball with our mind.  We had to control our bodies and keep them relaxed to move the ball.

 

 
 


 

Guinea pigs

Jackson's Writing

Today Jackson read us some writing that he had written at home.  We gave him some feedback.  These are some of the thing that we thought about his writing and his speaking:

* You used a clear voice and it was loud enough for us all to hear.
* You used expression for some of the words.
* You had time connectives.
* You had conjunctions to make your sentences more interesting.
* Your writing made sense.
* You had a closing sentence.

Miss Browne was very impressed with how Room 2 could give Jackson such sensible feedback.  It shows that they all know what is needed in an awesome recount.  Congratulations Jackson for writing a detailed and interesting recount about your trip to Hanmer Springs in your caravan, Cleo.

Peacocks

We have been working with our buddy class, Room 14, to make our awesome Peacocks ready for the Pet Show!  We are very proud of them and they look amazing displayed in Room 15.

Rockets

Last Wednesday it was mufti day and we had Mrs Johnston as our teacher. We followed some instructions to make our rockets and then we flew them. It was a great sunny day for launching our rockets !

The Squiggles

This afternoon we were fortunate to be invited to watch a performance by the Room 10 Squiggles.  Four girls from this class have been practising a range of nursery rhymes to perform to our class, including some music, drama and entertaining.  We had a great time.  They asked us to provide feedback so this is what we made for them this afternoon.

Congratulations

Today we had two super stars at assembly. Sophia received her certificate for working hard to make improvements in her writing. She is a skilful and knowledgeable thinker who is making great progress in her learning. Aileen received her certificate for her wonderful presentation to the ESOL teachers. We are very proud of both of the girls. 

Hip hop lesson two

Today we had our second hip hop lesson with Lara. Check out our moves!

First we play a game. 

Then we warm up our muscles. 

We learn some dance moves and try to put them all together with the music. 

Trying to walk to the beat of the music is a little tricky. 

Diwali

Today Aileen presented the book that she made using Book Creater on the ipad to a group of around 50 English as Second Language (ESOL) teachers. She represented our school and we feel very proud of her. She spoke confidently and looked beautiful. Well done Aileen.

Assembly Certificate

Today at assembly Benjamin received our certificate for giving fantastic feedback in their writing. He helped them to remember the parts of a good recount and then he told them how wonderful they were doing their writing.
